After our time with the staff, we headed to Unity Park (a museum and park built by the prime minister). What an amazing place to learn about the history of Ethiopia! The highlight… we MET THE PRIME MINISTER! Okay, maybe we didn’t meet him, but we did see him. He did wave to us through his rolled down window. And he did say, “I love you,” back to people as they shouted it out to him.

I have had the opportunity to travel to Ethiopia several times since Abiy became the prime minister. It is amazing to see the work he is doing. What an amazing leader! So many people in Ethiopia love him and look to him as a mentor. He encourages people to live a life of love. He is an example for all, not just the people in his country.

On Saturday, we headed to Bishoftu for some kayaking and relaxing. The ladies enjoyed their smoothies - there was no convincing them that macchiatos were better.

Our evening was spent debriefing and talking about our experiences. What an amazing time of praise and worship and discussing how living on a mission trip is a good reminder of how we should be living on mission for Jesus every single day… right where we are.

We shared a time of praise and worship at the guesthouse on Sunday. The guesthouse staff then treated us to a coffee ceremony.

Because the coffee ceremony wasn’t enough caffeine, we headed out for our last macchiatos (and smoothies) and then finished our packing to head back home in time for Thanksgiving.

Such an incredible team! I am grateful to have experienced this journey with them and pray we continue to encourage one another and build each other up (1 Thessalonians 5:11) as we live a life on mission.
