to wear or not to wear (a mask)
That is the question.
Along with - should we open schools? When should people go back into work? Everywhere we look, there seems to be division and controversy. Political, race, COVID, school re-opening, masks, etc. - there are so many opinions about everything.
But there is one thing we know for sure. For those of us who are Jesus followers - we are called to be disciples.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I grapple with what that even means… what does it mean to be a disciple? Well, I think the best place to find answers is in scripture. In John chapter 13 we see Jesus spending time with his disciples - showing not only his power but the full extent of his love, his service, and his care. He is an example to be imitated. Then, in his final command, he tells his disciples how they will be identified…
“Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (vs. 34-35)
Disciples are known by their love.
I love the simplicity of this children’s song; it really sums up this command from Jesus.
And to wear or not wear (a mask) is not really the question. The question is… are we loving one another? Are we loving them in our words, our actions, on social media, when we are coming and going?
“Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35
