thoughts from the ekklesia leadership team...
On Tuesday, we met with Sister Almaz and Ekklesia Academy’s leadership team. Jane and I did pretty well considering a 4am wake up!
To start, we asked the staff to share about themselves. They told us a little but they spent more time thanking us for continuing to come and visit and how our visits impact the children, staff, and families. Students are remembering the Bible stories (especially when we do dramas) and families appreciate when we take time to visit them in their homes.
They also shared the desires for our future visits. They would be interested in having us conduct teacher trainings as well as providing encouragement to the staff (any teachers out there ready to head to Ethiopia?). Continuing to share Bible stories, character building activities, and adding science activities would also be welcome.
We absolutely loved having time with the leadership team! It was beautiful and fruitful as we prayed together and continued to learn about the plans for the school - increasing discipleship programs and improving the standards of education. More to come after meeting with the managing board of Sister Almaz’s NGO (nongovernmental organization) on Saturday. Always so much to learn when we travel - about the culture, about the country and how things operate - never a dull moment! Cannot wait to share more!
