bonds of friendship

Even though our most recent trip to Ethiopia was cut short... there was still so much that happened. Lessons were learned. And bonds were formed.

Speaking of bonds, I had the honor and privilege of spending time with two incredible individuals.

Allow me to introduce them to you...

Melanie - my St. Joe gal - and I roomed together. When this happens, you cannot help but bond! Melanie kept Kendall and I laughing when things could have been very stressful, and she kept Kendall fed with her Lorna Doone cookies. She has become a dear and trusted friend as well a mentor in my faith walk. Her love for the Lord and for others is contagious. I could travel to the ends of the earth with this wonderful lady!

Kendall - what a trooper! Driving around the capital city of Ethiopia, this young man is amazing as he endured the antics of two mamas - one sweet and comical (Melanie) and one bossy and sassy (me)! His go with the flow and take it as it comes attitude works in any situation... and his passion for doing the Lord's work is inspiring.

Before we ended our journey together and went our separate ways in Washington D.C., I had the pleasure of video taping this two crazy characters. It is important to note, we were all exhausted and a bit delirious...

To Melanie and Kendall - I love you both! Thank you for your love for our Lord and doing His work. Thank you for sharing this journey with me. And thank you for your friendship - we were quite the trio!
