a sermon... just for me
Journey 28:19, our non-profit has spent the last five months transitioning over to a direct partnership with Sister Almaz and her NGO in Ethiopia. And as with any transition, we have met some challenges. And as challenges have come up, I need to be the first to confess, I have not always chosen the path Jesus did. I have chosen the path of fear over trust and frustration over success.
On Sunday I visited one of our church campuses I don’t normally attend. Pastor Carl was preaching, and I am pretty sure the sermon was written just for me. Pastor Carl was talking about Samson's account with Delilah and what really held him (Samson) in bondage/sin.
He shared how the same thing can hold us in sin...
lingering in a risky situation
isolation
trusting in our own strength
As we have walked through this transition, there have been times where I have chosen to do all the above at one time or another (sometimes ALL three at once!). But here is what I have learned... as I have walked through this transition, God has been there - and so have you! I personally couldn't have made it through without each of you. Your prayers, your words of encouragement, the time, talents, and treasures you have shared - God has used each of you throughout these last few months at just the right time. You are such a gift to me and to Journey 28:19 and you remind and encourage me run this race well.
Thank you for being such an invaluable part of this team! And thank you, Pastor Carl for a great reminder of that I want to live my life less like Samson and more like Jesus.
