water snob and wells

Water snob.

This is a name I have long been deemed with in my family as I am quite picky with the water I drink. The way I see it, water is like ice cream. You have to pick the flavor you like. My preference is not for the plastic flavor which comes from most water bottles. I also prefer my water to be lacking in the chlorine and soft water flavors that come out of many refrigerators. And a rusty, metal flavor that comes from drinking fountains, that ranks right up there with the worst flavor of all!  Growing up on well water - well, that is my most favorite flavor - just the clean, crisp taste of... water... and nothing else.

When I think about the children and community we have partnered with in Ethiopia not having access to water at all times, I start to think of my pickiness in water flavors. The fact is... I have water. Clean water. Access to water any time I want. This luxury has not been a luxury for the staff, the children, and the community in Sendafa, Ethiopia.

Until now.

At the beginning of February, we started fundraising for two wells for the school. These two wells would provide a reliable source of drinking water for the staff and children and have an impact on the community as well as help them start agricultural and husbandry projects that could not be attained without this invaluable resource.

And guess what! YOU did it! You have all rallied behind this project to raise $52,000 for this community. And you did it... in just 38 days!

The money has been sent, and we look forward to sharing all the progress with you in the months to come.

As for my water snob issues, I am not sure they have changed. But some of my habits with water have. I realize that access to clean water is a gift - a gift that should not be taken for granted.

We praise and thank God for each of you as you have partnered in this ministry.
