preparation...
As we prepare for our first mission trip to Ekklesia CarePoint, I can hardly contain my excitement!
We have an amazing team of eleven traveling together in May. If you are not able to be with us on this trip, we will do everything we can to ensure you feel a part of it! To start, here are some of the things the team is busy planning to do...
- Share Bible stories
- Music and drama
- Crafts and games
- Visit the homes of sponsored children and spend time in the community
- Hand deliver your care packages
- Visit a CarePoint that is moving toward the self-sufficient stage
- Take LOTS and LOTS of pictures and videos
The best part of the trip - we will start building relationships with the children, staff, and community of Sendafa, Ethiopia. This is what makes working with Children's HopeChest so unique and why we chose to partner with them. We are not just sending checks, letters, and offering prayer, although these things are essential. We get to spend time with, learn from, and walk together in our faith journey... just as we do with our family and friends here.
The picture below represents this well. Our family started sponsoring Emebet at Hosanna CarePoint about two years ago. Ben is holding Emebet, and her mom is standing next to them. The shirt Emebet is wearing is from the care package Hannah and I hand delivered six months prior to Ben's visit. We have been able to pray for Emebet and help her with food and education expenses as well as medical needs. But more than that - Ben, Hannah, and I have met her, held her, and loved her!
We cannot wait to share these experiences with you and maybe, just maybe... take you along on the next journey!
