five things i love about ethiopia: the macchiato

Oh the macchiato!  Yes, this is the number three thing I love about Ethiopia!  

In fact, Ethiopia is known for its caffè macchiato.  (Note... this is not the caramel macchiato from Starbucks.)  The caffè macchiato sometimes called an espresso macchiato, is an espresso coffee drink with a small amount of milk added, usually foamed milk.  It is very strong so sugar is usually added to it to take away the bite and add a bit of sweetness.

And although I LOVE the macchiato, there is more to the macchiato than just the macchiato.

• Number one: While you are still jet lagged, this is a great way to re-caffeinate!
• Number two: It is another time for people to stop and enjoy the company of others.  

I found this quote by C.S. Lewis.  “Is any pleasure on earth as great as a circle of friends by a good fire?”  With a little modifying,  "Is any pleasure on earth as great as a circle of friends with a good macchiato?"  

What a gift to be able to spend time with good friends who listen to and support you, laugh and cry with you, hold you accountable, teach you, and love you without judgement... all the while sipping on a great coffee!
