March 19, 2021
Thank you for visiting the Journey 28:19 website.
From the inception of Journey 28:19 in 2014, it’s been our mission to partner with Ekklesia Academy leadership in Sendafa, Ethiopia … mainly to share the gospel and care for vulnerable children. We’ve seen God work in amazing ways.
However, over time and across the miles, there has been a drift in communication, accountability and priorities, despite our best efforts. It has become clear that we are moving in very different directions, which doesn’t allow Journey to uphold our mission and goals.
For that reason, Journey leadership has unanimously decided to dissolve the partnership with Ekklesia Academy, effective June 30, 2021 (the end of the current school year).
We want to honor God in all things. Sadly, there is lack of alignment in two key areas:
Goals and priorities – It’s important that as partners we agree on what we want to accomplish and the best ways to get there.
Partnership, communication and accountability – It’s important that together we discuss concerns and work toward solutions.
International partnerships and cultural differences make for complex ministry work, and this is no exception. We respect the work Sr. Almaz and her team are doing in Ethiopia under very trying conditions (civil unrest, tribal tension, government requirements, COVID-19, poverty, etc.).
This is a very difficult decision. We are grateful to our sponsors and friends who have traveled this path with us. We’ll continue to pray for Ekklesia leadership, staff, children and the Sendafa community; they will always be dear to us.
We are hopeful that Journey 28:19 will continue, but we will pray and work toward what God has next for us. At this point, we’re willing to see where He leads us. Since the ministry is in transition, this website will be dormant until we have updates to share.
Thank you for your prayers as we move forward in faith.
